Overnight car fire in Springfield considered arson

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

First responders arrived at what they thought was a brush fire around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

It turned out to be a car fire, and they are considering it suspicious.

Dennis Leger, aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 that the car was found off of Riverside Road.

Leger said it was a blue 1992 Acura Legend that was destroyed in the fire.

The large amount of snow made it difficult for crews to initially reach the scene.

The arson and bomb squad ruled that the incident was arson.

The public is asked to contact the fire department with any information.
