EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Easley police said they took a 14-year-old boy into custody after shots were fired outside of the local Walmart on Sunday.

Lt. Jeremy Miller with Easley police said officers were responding to a traffic stop when they saw two men chasing the boy in the store parking lot late Sunday night.

He said police then heard two gunshots and bystanders shouting about a person with a gun.

Police saw the men running away from the store and one had a small handgun, Miller said. He said officers were able to catch up with the young suspect and detain him.

Police said the teen is charged with attempted murder, possession of a gun during a violent crime, armed robbery and possession of marijuana.

Miller said police are working on a release with more information about the case.
