UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Union man is accused of threatening to kill the local sheriff, and his former employer, after he was arrested in an unrelated case Sunday.

According to deputies, Dean Gibson, 40, was at the Union County jail and was in a holding cell when he made the threat.

A jail officer was about to leave the area when Gibson stopped him and said when he got out of jail, "that he had a bullet waiting for sheriff Taylor and that he was going to kill his a**," according to the sheriff's office report.

Deputies said they notified the sheriff and because of the threat, Gibson was also charge with threatening the life of a public official.

According to the sheriff's office, Gibson was a Union County deputy until March 2010.
