DAYTONA BEACH, FL (FOX Carolina) -

After winning his second Daytona 500 title in his storied career, Dale Earnhardt Jr. took to Twitter to both celebrate the win and honor his dad.

Only his third tweet since joining the social media platform after his win Sunday night, Earnhardt tweeted, "Look who I ran into at the Daytona Experience. Dad's Happy! #2XDaytona500Champ" along with a selfie of him in front of his father's statue at the Florida racetrack.

The NASCAR driver joined Twitter on Sunday and already has 340,000 followers.

Earnhardt's win broke losing streak dating back to 2012. It was also the second time he won the Daytona 500, taking home the title back in 2004.

The race was delayed six hours because of the weather, but that did not get in Earnhardt's way of following in his father's footsteps, who won the race in 1998. The legacy of Dale Earnhardt Sr. was more present during Sunday's race as the No. 3 car returned to the track for the first time since his death in 2001, driven by Austin Dillon.
