ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A 24-year-old man turned himself in to the sheriff's office on several charges, including attempted murder, for a road rage incident in Anderson County earlier in February, according to deputies.

Lt. Sheila Cole said it was reported the victim was on his way home from work on Highway 29 North when a silver Toyota Tacoma drove up behind him at a high rate of speed.

The victim said he moved to the right lane to allow the truck driven by Joshua Hoover, of Piedmont, to pass, Cole said.

Both vehicles then merged onto Interstate 85 and Hoover pulled to the right side of the victim, made an obscene gesture and fired a shot through the victim's passenger side door, Cole said was reported.

Cole said the victim was unharmed and the bullet lodged in the vehicle's center console.

Hoover turned himself in to deputies on Monday and is being held on $50,000 bond, deputies said.
