In an effort to expedite the security process, the Transportation Security Administration is expanding its pre-check process to Greenville.
Passengers can now enroll in the program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids and gels in a carry-on bag when they go through security at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.
U.S. citizens and permanent residents can start the pre-enrollment process at online then visit an application center to provide biographic information (e.g. name, date of birth, address, etc.), fingerprints, valid required identity and citizenship/immigration documentation and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership.
Once approved, travelers get a Known Traveler Number and can use precheck lanes at security checkpoints at more than 115 participating airports on nine major U.S. airlines including: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
In order to apply in Greenville, interested travelers must visit the UES Enrollment Center located at Haywood Plaza at 30 Orchard Park Dr., Ste. 21. The office hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Applicants with questions can call the Universal Enrollment Call Center at 1-855-347-8371 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
