Deputies: Search called off after man flees traffic stop in TR

TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they called off the search for a man with active warrants who fled a traffic stop in Travelers Rest on Wednesday.

Dispatchers said the man had active warrants for gun charges and fled from the car in the area of Sally Gilreath Road and Hayes Road in Travelers Rest.

Deputies set up a perimeter between Hayes Road and Locust Hill and used helicopters and K-9s to assist in the search.

Deputies told FOX Carolina photojournalist Mike Birchfield the search was called off just after 6 p.m. and the suspect was still on the loose.

Deputies said they are familiar with the suspect and there is no danger to the public.
