Spartanburg attorney Kevin Owens is charged with breach of trust and may face more charges after Spartanburg police say he was practicing law with a suspended license.

Owens turned himself in at the detention center Friday morning.

Detective John Burgess says investigators received a tip from one of Owen's clients, Thomas Morgan, last week.

"After he (Owens) stopped returning his phone calls and no work had been done on his case, he (Morgan) reached out to us," Burgess said.

According to the South Carolina Judicial Department website, Owen's license was suspended May 22, 2013. The website says the license was suspended for either failing to complete required training or for failing to pay fees but did not specify which.

Morgan says he hired Owens to handle his deceased mother's estate in June 2013 and says he is now left to clean up the mess he says Owens has left behind.

"I didn't know how to react. I was completely out of my mind as to what to do," Morgan said.

Morgan says he lost hundreds of dollars to Owens.

"I don't know what he did with the money," said Morgan. "I hope there is no one else (victims) but I think there are tons and they need to come forward."

Burgess says he also feels there are more victims and is asking them to come forward.

"Even if they didn't pay him, just got legal advice from May 22, 2013, to present, please contact us," Burgess said.

Owens could also face additional charges according to Burgess who says the case has now been turned over to the solicitor's office.

Outside the courtroom, Owens told Fox Carolina that he could not comment on the case and referred us to his attorney Robert Childs of Greenville.

Fox Carolina reached out to Childs but did not get a response.
