AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Things heated up at The Hangar Friday night.

Darton State and South Georgia Tech locked horns in the Region 17 semifinals in Americus, and tempers flared.

In the end, the 16th-ranked Lady Jets advanced to the GCAA finals with a 72-54 win.

Conference player of the year Polly Murray had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while TaQuandra Mike led the Lady Jets in scoring with 23.

Shanae Armbrister led Darton State with 16 points in a losing effort. DaQuenna Moore scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Lady Cavs.

SGTC will play Georgia Highlands in the Region 17 championship Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at The Hangar.

The fireworks happened after halftime.

With seven minutes remaining and SGTC with a double-digit lead, a Lady Cavalier and Lady Jet got into it.

SGTC head coach James Frey called a timeout to separate the two.

Darton State head coach Lea Henry began yelling at the referees for not stepping in between the players. Henry then turned her attention to Frey and the Lady Jets bench.

The two coaches shortly exchanged words before returning to their huddles.

No fouls were called.

The loss ends the Darton State season at 23-9.
