GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Members of Christ Church Episcopal gathered together Sunday morning to pack food bags for the United Ministries' Emergency Assistance Program, which distributes food and other items to families in need.

Members met in the Parish House of the church on North Church Street and filled food bags with three days' worth of balanced meals, made of donated food items, according to organizers.

The volunteers packaged 200 bags during the event.

Organizers said food donations typically peak around the holiday season and food pantries often run low on supplies toward the end of winter.

All food bags will go to United Ministries, which organizers said has been helping needy families in the Upstate since 1970.
