RUTHERFORDTON, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Rutherford County deputies said a man is accused of attacking the man he lives with, trying to set him on fire and threatening to throw a Molotov cocktail at the victim's car as he fled the scene.

Deputies said the two men got into a fight at their Hudlow Road home in Union Mills on Sunday.

According to deputies, the victim was doused with gas by Kenneth Lane and hit in the back of the head with a wooden stick that was on fire.

The victim then ran to his truck to go to the hospital for his injuries and Lane threatened to set the truck on fire with a Molotov cocktail if he left their home, deputies said.

Deputies said friends of the victim were also at the house and were able to drive him to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Deputies said Lane was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault inflicting serious bodily injury and communicating threats and his bond was set at $300,000.
