GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greer police said a Florida man has been charged in connection with a 2005 armed robbery case.

Lt. Jim Holcombe said they were able to identify Dustin Horwoth to the May 13, 2005, robbery at a local Auto Zone store and had him brought back to the Upstate. He said Horwoth had been serving time in Kershaw County for an unrelated case.

According to the original police report, Horwoth entered the East Wade Hampton Boulevard store about 9:20 p.m. and asked to see some battery cables. After the night manager showed him the items, police said the suspect said he was robbing the place and demanded money from the safe.

The suspect was able to get away with about $684 in cash, but police said he was not wearing gloves, so they were able to collect fingerprint evidence on the items he picked up.

Horwoth, 42, was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on an armed robbery charge Sunday. According to jail records, his most recent address was Oldsmar, FL.
