Deputies: Party leads to man being stabbed over drug money

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man was stabbed at the Country Hearth Inn on Bruce Road Monday night, according to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

Lt. Tim Ridgeway said the man was given money to buy drugs for a group of people gathered in the motel room, but when he returned to the room, he was stabbed in the stomach.

Ridgeway said a dispute over the drug money lead to the stabbing.

The man who was injured said that he was not a part of the party and not involved in drugs. 
The stabbing victim told FOX Carolina he was attacked during a robbery near a vending machine at the motel.

The suspect has not been identified .  He got away on foot.

Ridgeway said the stabbing victim was expected to undergo surgery.
