KINGMAN, AZ (CBS5) -

A Mohave County homeowner whose vacant home was ready to be shown to a prospective buyer was surprised to learn a transient was making himself at home.

The homeowner said a Realtor had taken the potential buyer to his Cedar Hills home east of Kingman about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a Mohave County Sheriff's Office news release.

The Realtor then called the homeowner to tell him they were watching a man moving property into the house, according to the release.

The 52-year-old homeowner and deputies went to the house and were met at the door by a man identified as Edward Donald Jones, 69.

Jones told the homeowner and deputies he recently bought the house through another Realtor and that escrow had closed, but his Realtor told deputies he had not sold the house to Jones and that Jones had tried to buy a different property from him with fraudulent funds, according to the release.

Jones was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Jail for burglary and criminal trespassing, both felonies.
