Tucson police said they've arrested a man who bought stolen jewelry, melted and reshaped it into bars and then resold it to local precious metal dealers.
David Reid, 55, was taken into custody Feb. 27.
Detectives said they obtained a search warrant for his home in the 1500 block of North Columbus Lane. They said they located large amounts of gold and silver jewelry and coins with a value of about $228,000.
Detectives also located two stolen firearms and more than $3,000 cash.
