GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville Road Warriors announced the team donated more than $17,500 to the American Cancer Society after the team's first-ever Stick it to Cancer night.

The Feb. 21 event was considered a success by the team for raising cancer awareness and money for the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.

The Stick it to Cancer night included a post-game auction jersey with Alternate Captain Brad Cole's going for $4,000, which the team said was the highest bid ever for a Road Warriors jersey.

FOX Carolina anchor Cody Alcorn was in attendance for the night that included a chuck-a-puck promotion and special Stick it to Cancer T-shirts with the proceeds being donated to charity.

"Working with the American Cancer Society to deliver this fantastic event was a true pleasure," said Road Warriors General Manager Chris Lewis.

"The generosity and passion of the Road Warriors fan base is unmatched and this donation is another wonderful illustration of the tremendous support the Greenville community provides to those who need it most," Lewis said.

The Road Warriors also partnered with Bon Secours St. Francis Health System for the event.
