SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Wellford mom is accused of using drugs while she was pregnant, according to deputies.

Spartanburg County deputies said they were called in to investigate the possible drug use after Teresa Stith, 28, gave birth in January.

According to the incident report, they received a tip about the drugs and tested Stith's son for drugs after he was born. Initial test results for the baby came back positive for Amphetamines, deputies said. Deputies said they could not run further tests on the child because the baby did not have hair yet.

After follow up testing was done, deputies said both Stith and the child's father tested positive for methamphetamines, oxycodone and marijuana.

According to the sheriff's office report, hair screens can date as far back as 90 days, which meant Stith was using the drugs during her third trimester.

The report said both parents told investigators they used meth during her pregnancy.

Stith was later arrested and charged with unlawful neglect of a child. According to her warrant, she used meth and marijuana between October and the baby's birth in January.
