President Bill Clinton is coming to the Upstate in less than a month to speak at a Riley Institute event.

On Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m., Clinton will deliver remarks celebrating the lifelong work of Greenville native Richard W. Riley and the Furman University public policy institute named after him.

The event will be open to the public and held at the Peace Center Concert Hall. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Peace Center Box Office or online.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Riley Institute.

The Institute is named for Riley, a 1954 Furman graduate who served in the South Carolina House of Representatives (1963 to 1966), the South Carolina Senate (1967 to 1977), and spent two terms as Governor of South Carolina (1978 to 1987).

He was also U.S. Secretary of Education under Clinton from 1993 to 2001.
