ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said a man wanted on an attempted murder charge turned himself in on March 19.

The sheriff's office was looking for 25-year-old Jervon Quantez Martin in connection with an armed robbery that occured in early January and asked for help locating him earlier in March.

Lt. Sheila Cole said Martin self-surrendered on Wednesday on the charges of attempted murder and armed robbery.

During the incident, deputies said Martin robbed a person at gunpoint with a gun he had just taken from the victim. Deputies said he then pulled the trigger several times, but the gun didn't fire.

The victim was able to wrestle Martin to the ground and flee the scene, deputies said.

Deputies said an accomplice in the incident, 33-year-old Julian Montez Hunter, taken into custody on Jan. 30 and charged with armed robbery.

Cole said if Martin is found guilty he faces up to 60 years in prison. Hunter could get 10 to 30 years upon conviction, Cole said.

Martin is being held on $80,000 bond.
