GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man wanted in Georgia fled from an Upstate officer who tried to question him Tuesday night, according to police.

Greenville police spokesperson Johnathan Bragg said the officer was patrolling in the area of Pinckney Street about 10 p.m. when he saw two men standing in the road. When he stopped to talk, they took off running, police said.

One was detained but the other kept running until he fell, then began to fight the officer who tried to arrest him, Bragg said. He said the man was able to run a little further before another struggle with the officer led to his arrest.

The man turned out to be considered a fugitive, Bragg said. He said Kevin Speaks, 42, was wanted in Fulton County cocaine possession charge and now faces resisting arrest with assault on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, loitering to engage in drug activity and public intoxication charges.
