JONESVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said they were called to two Union County school bus accidents Thursday, and the same driver was behind the wheel in both.

Emergency crews were first called to the scene of a school bus accident in Jonesville Thursday morning after the bus ran off the road. Dispatchers said the crash happened at Whitlock Lake Road near Morris Farm Road just before 7:30 a.m.

According to Jonesville firefighters at the scene, a school bus was driving along Whitlock Lake Road when one of its tires went off the road.

Troopers said the school bus driver ran off the side of a road, hitting a tree. They said all of the students onboard the bus were taken to the hospital for observation and the driver, 61-year-old Ronald Holden, of Union, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Union County Schools Superintendent Dr. Kristi Woodall said six of the students were taken to the hospital by ambulance while the other 16 were taken by another school bus. She did not release what schools the students attended or their ages.

"We appreciate the patience of the parents and family members as well as the response and compassion from the local hospital district, law enforcement, EMS and first responders from other agencies," Woodall said.

Later Thursday afternoon about 4:45 p.m., troopers said they were called to a wreck along Highway 215 at East Industrial Park Road.

There troopers said they found Holden behind the wheel of a bus and he had rear-ended a car that had slowed down for traffic. Troopers said Holden was again cited for driving too fast for conditions. They said no one was injured in that wreck.

According to Jeff Stribble, Director of Personnel and Student Services with Union County Schools, no students were involved in the afternoon accident and Holden is not driving while the district investigates. He said Holden was drug tested after both wrecks.
