SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Ridgeway man has been brought back to the Upstate to face a charge from a 2004 sexual abuse case involving a child, according to deputies.

Oconee County deputies said they were notified by state investigators that a Fairfield County abuse case may have also took place in the Upstate.

Deputies said the victim accused Douglas McFarland, 78, of inappropriately touching her when she was between the age of 6 and 7 and it happened in the Seneca area. Deputies said the assault happened between June 2003 and September 2004.

McFarland was being held in Fairfield County on charges unrelated to the Oconee County case until he was brought back to the Upstate Wednesday, deputies said.

In the Seneca case, deputies charged McFarland with lewd act with a minor and he is being held on $25,000 bond.
