UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Union man is accused of breaking up a fight in his front yard by cutting the throat of one of the men involved in the argument, according to deputies.

Union County deputies said they were called to a home on Hancock Street Wednesday for a reported stabbing, but when they arrived they did not find the victim.

While at the scene, deputies said they learned two men were arguing in the front of 49-year-old Clary Woodsby's home. One of the men also lives at the house and was highly intoxicated, deputies said.

Deputies said they arrested that man, identified as 27-year-old Caleb Roberts, and charged him with public intoxication.

According to deputies, Woodsby walked outside during the fight and told Roberts and the other man, identified as Blake Bright, to stop arguing in front of his house.

Though Bright was not there when deputies arrived, they said Woodsby became irate and yelled at officers when they tried to ask him what happened. Deputies said they arrested Woodsby, charging him with breach of peace.

While at the home, deputies learned Bright was at another home down the road and found him with a stab wound. Deputies said he told them Woodsby held a knife to his throat, pushed him to the ground then cut him. Bright was then taken to the hospital.

Deputies said they also charged Woodsby with attempted murder.
