GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters with the all three Gaffney Fire Department stations and the Blacksburg Fire Department were called to an active fire at the Colonial Fish Camp restaurant on Cherokee Avenue early Sunday morning, dispatchers said.

The call came in around 6:17 a.m., dispatchers said.

Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the roof of the building and requested additional manpower, dispatchers said.

Firefighters said the fire appeared to have started due to grease build-up in kitchen's ventilation system.

Firefighters said the fire damaged a significant portion of the roof and the inside of the restaurant suffered from water damage, but firefighters said the building can likely be repaired.
