PROSPERITY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Newberry County deputies are investigating the vandalism of several school buses at a local middle school.

Sometime during the weekend, deputies said someone damaged and let the air out of about 100 tires on several buses parked at Mid Carolina Middle School in Prosperity. The school district said at least one tire on about 20 buses was damaged, if not more.

The damage was discovered Monday morning when the bus drivers arrived, deputies said. It is too soon to say how much the damage is worth.

The campuses affected by the damage are running as normal, though many parents brought their children to school Monday, deputies said.

Maintenance crews from other school districts have been brought in to help repair the damage.

Both deputies and the school district are working together to find who is behind the damage and said a substantial reward is available for information leading to an arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the crime.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to call the sheriff's office at 803-321-2222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
