Police: Temp Clemson employee stole $3K from botanical gardens

CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Clemson University temporary employee is accused of depositing $3,000 intended for the botanical gardens into her own bank account, police said.

Clemson University police charged Meganne Evans, 28, of Pendleton, with grand larceny after they said she deposited $3,195 in checks intended for the South Carolina Botanical Garden into her personal checking account.

Police said Evans was employed at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center when the thefts occurred between September 2013 and February 2014.

She was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
