COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is investigating a video posted online reportedly filmed from within a state prison by inmates.

Stephanie Givens, the Communications Director for SCDC, said the video was posted online Monday and they have been investigating it since then.

The video, posted on worldstarhiphop.com, is titled "South Carolina Inmates Film 1st Ever Music Video In Prison!" and already has more than 400,000 views.

The nearly six minute-long video features several men in what appears to be SCDC uniforms and in a prison cell. Givens said they have yet to determine which prison it may have been recorded in.

Givens released the following statement on behalf of the SCDC in regard to the video:

"SCDC is in the process of investigating the video. Once the investigation is complete, inmates involved will be appropriately charged."

She said cell phones are considered contraband.
