Clemson to host Illinois in 2nd round of NIT tourney

CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Tigers will get to play to a home crowd again on Sunday as they host the Illini during the second round of the NIT Tournament.

Clemson will host Illinois at 11 a.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum. The three-seeded Tigers defeated Georgia State 78-66 at home on Tuesday.

Two-seed Illinois made it to the second round, defeating Boston University 66-62 on Wednesday.

Whoever wins Sunday's game will move on to the quarterfinals. The tournament's semifinals and championship rounds are held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 1 and 3.

Tigers junior K.J. McDaniels had 30 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots in Tuesday night's win. Damarcus Harrison produced 17 points, and Jordan Roper added 11 and four assists.

It was the team's first postseason game since 2011. Their second-round matchup will air on ESPN and tickets can be bought online here.
