PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Anderson County deputies said a short chase led to the discovery of an abandoned stolen car behind a Piedmont building Friday morning.
According to Anderson County Sgt. Tim Grasty, deputies were first called to the area of Elrod Road for a suspicious vehicle. When they tried to stop it, the car took off. He said the chase was called off. But when dispatch notified that the car was stolen, they began looking for it again.
The car was discovered behind the industrial building and additional deputies were called in for backup because the car was hidden behind the building, left in bushes and briars, Grasty said.
But no one was in the car, and whoever was inside had already taken off, he said. While at the scene, a deputy injured his knee and paramedics were called in, Grasty said.
Grasty said the car was reported stolen by Greenville City Police so it will be turned over to their investigators.
