RUTHERFORDTON, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A western North Carolina boy who wants to be a police officer when he grows up had a special birthday present when he got the change to be a deputy for a day.

And granting Jonathan Snyder's wish, deputies said Jonathan wanted to go on patrol with Cpl. Robert Owens of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

On Feb. 28, Owens made Jonathan's birthday wish come true as he walked the beat at Isothermal Community College with his favorite officer.

While on patrol, Jonathan helped with routine rounds, checking different areas by asking Isothermal employees if they'd had any trouble.

To get the complete experience, Jonathan also wrote Kid Court Notice to Appear citations and even made one arrest.

"The special group of folks at Isothermal who played along were good sports and contributed to Jonathan's special day," said Jonathan's mother, Kimberly. "Special thanks to Cpl. Owens and IT Server Administrator, Mark Carpenter, who was willing to be handcuffed and briefly detained by Officer Snyder. They made it a day that Jonathan will never forget."
