The crowds aren't waiting until the weekend to enjoy this year's 4th Avenue Street Fair.

Organizers estimate 300,000 people will attend the annual event falling on March 21 - 23 this year.

Some stopped by vendor tents while nearby bars and restaurants sat packed with people for Friday's basketball game. Jenni Fink said she enjoys the large collection of local vendors, even if it means weaving through crowds.

"I'm pretty small and I haven't been stepped on yet," she joked.

With family in town from out of state, Bill Burns strolled along 4th Ave. to take in the sights. He said it has become a family tradition, especially on the first day when he figures there is more room to walk.

"Always come on Friday," he said. "Tomorrow we wouldn't be able to stand here and do this."

A sunny afternoon was enough to attract Brad Boettner to the fair with his friends. He made the trip from Detroit, and couldn't be happier with the surroundings.

"You can't beat this weather," said Boettner. "It's not snowing!"

With plenty of people moving around the fair, organizers would like to remind visitors that pets are not allowed.

Operating hours are from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. all weekend. You can find parking information here.
