GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A 5,000-meter run hosted by the Friends of the Greenville Zoo will bring runners and walkers actually through the zoo on Saturday.

Zoom Through the Zoo marks the first time a race has been held in the zoo and will raise money for the Friends of the Greenville Zoo, the zoo announced on Monday.

The race will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 in Cleveland Park and will wind through the park and then past the zoo's lions, giraffes and other animals.

"We are excited to host Greenville's only run through the Zoo," said Amanda Osborne, The Friends of the Greenville Zoo's executive director.  "Zoom Through The Zoo will raise funds to support the mission of The Friends.  This event promises to be a fun-filled morning for Greenville families."

Runners and walkers interested in participating can register online at www.gogreenevents.com/ZoomThroughTheZoo.
