SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police are investigating a violent home invasion after they said three masked men stormed a home, stealing a large sum of money and leaving the victim bloodied in their attack.

Police said the victims called 911 about 11:50 p.m. to report the home invasion at their Caulder Circle home Monday.

The man who lives at the home spoke with Fox Carolina but did not want to be identified for safety reasons.

He said he and his wife heard a loud noise. He says his wife thought one of their two young daughters had knocked something over and went to check it out.

"She got into the hallway and there were three boys with guns, masks and hoodies on," the man said. "They pointed their guns at her and our daughters

The man, who had a large bandage above his lip, said before he could react the men began demanding money and attacked him.

"They started pistol whipping in the face and busted my mouth," the homeowner said.

The man said the robbers took him to the ground and ransacked his home taking jewelry and some cash, but before they left, one robber ordered another to kill the family.

"He said 'kill them,'" the man said. "I thought I was going to die. I thought they were going to die."

No shots were ever fired and the man said the next thing he remembers was hearing a car speed away from his house.

Police tried looking for the men but did not locate them.

Anyone with information on the home invasion is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
