Roads will be treacherous across the mountains of western North Carolina Wednesday morning, as the snow that fell creates ice on the roads. A freeze warning is in effect for the Upstate, northeast Georgia and the North Carolina piedmont as temperatures dip to well below freezing.

Wednesday will be sunny and chilly. Highs will only reach the upper 30s for the mountains, while the Upstate should reach the low 50s. This is well below normal for this time of year.

Thursday will be milder with highs near 60, then Friday brings more rain to the forecast. At least it will be a warmer rain on Friday, as highs will get into the 60s.
