MOUNTAIN REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A Mountain Rest man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident at his home on Wednesday morning, according to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.
According to the incident report, 29-year-old Mathew Moore returned to his home on Little Road when he attacked a man after accusing him of taking something, which deputies said was presumed to be a narcotic.
A witness said the victim had come over the night before to watch television and did not want to go to his home across the street, so he slept on the couch, according to the incident report.
Moore reportedly attacked the man by hitting him in the head and face while he had a knife his hand, according to the incident report.
The victim was able to get up with blood pouring out of his neck and run outside where he called 911, the report said.
Lt. Jimmy Watt said when deputies arrived, Moore stated everything was fine and nothing had happened.
He was placed in investigative detention for questioning and booked late Wednesday on the charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
