SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office has charged a Seneca man with a sex crime against a minor after an incident this past weekend, according to Lt. Jimmy Watt.

Watt said 40-year-old Thomas Cobb, of Seneca, is accused of engaging in sexual battery with a 13-year-old minor who was sleeping over a friend's house.

The girl was awoken during the assault and screamed "get out" at Cobb and chased him out of the home with her friend, locking him out, the report said.

The friend also reported that Cobb grabbed her inappropriately earlier in the evening, the report said.

Cobb was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Wednesday and is being held on a $45,000 surety bond, Watt said.

The report said the mother at the home was "grossly intoxicated and DSS was also called due to the mother's inability to keep the child safe from the suspect."

The victims were transported to the hospital where they received medical exams.

Note, deputies initially reported the victim was age 10, but later made a correction.
