SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies arrested a man more than two months after they said he robbed a man at gunpoint but fled the crime scene leaving behind some belongings.

On Jan. 8, deputies were called to the Barksdale Apartments were a witness reported the seeing a fight with a handgun that turned out to be an armed robbery.

When they spoke with the victim, he told deputies he had a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to sell and a friend put him in touch with an interested buyer who turned out to be the suspect.

When the suspect arrived at the apartment complex to buy the phone, deputies said he put a gun to the victim's back and said if he moved, he would shoot him.

The suspect stole the phone along with various other merchandise the victim sold including a computer, football jersey, boots and the victim's personal phone, according to deputies.

When the suspect walked to the front of the victim's car, the man attacked the robber, kicking the gun across the parking lot, according to the deputy's report. Deputies said the two fought for a few minutes before the suspect took off running, losing his shoe in the process.

Deputies said the suspect got into a car that drove off, then came back a few minutes later.

The report said the suspect apologized that things got messed up, but he'd give the stuff back if he could have his phone and gun. But the victim told him he would call police if he did not get his stuff, the report said. Deputies said the robber got his shoe and left again, and the victim followed the car.

While investigating the robbery, deputies said the suspect's phone rang a few times and they spoke with someone who said it was Josh's phone.

Deputies were able to identify the suspect as Joshua Johnson, 17, who was arrested Friday and charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
