Graph: Most Greenville auto-break-ins on unlocked cars

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville Police Department released statistics for auto break-ins from 2013 on Friday that showed the majority were committed on unlocked vehicles.

The graph showed 365 of the 833 total auto break-ins were on unlocked cars, while 190 of the cases the burglars gained entrance through a broken window.

It also said 44 were through forced or pried doors, 170 didn't make entry and 76 unknown points of entry.

Police also noted that 49 firearms were stolen from vehicles in the city over the year.

Public Information Officer Johnathan Bragg reminded people to not leave any valuables in vehicles, especially firearms.
