PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Pickens County Sheriff's Office said they are awaiting toxicology tests before seeking criminal charges in the shooting of a man in a Dacusville home.

On March 25, Travis Scott Whitman died from a gunshot wound to the chest after a domestic fight between family members, according to Chief Deputy Creed Hashe.

Hashe said detectives have been compiling evidence from the scene and statements from two adult females inside the home at the time of the shooting.

According to Hashe, witnesses said one of the two women shot Whitman.

The sheriff's office has been consulting with the solicitor's office concerning the circumstances around the shooting, and they will provide the solicitor information pertaining to possible prosecution following toxicology reports on Whitman, Hashe said.

He said toxicology results could take up to three weeks for completion.

Sheriff Rick Clark stated in a release, "I fully understand that there are people in the community who want the gory details about this shooting but hopefully they have seen during my administration that I will not release information until it is appropriate, and not until all of the facts are known."
