GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville Citizen's Road Advisory Commission presented its list of road projects to the County Council on Tuesday, which included ways to help alleviate traffic on highways including Woodruff Road.

Now it is up to the council to decide what projects it will undertake.

The commission put together the list of roads in need of repair, and other projects over the last two months by listening to citizens at public hearings.

One project includes building a parkway parallel to Woodruff Road that is expected to ease traffic. That project would create a 3-mile-long, 5-lane road that would run from Miller Road to Verdae Boulevard, crossing over Interstate 85.

Other improvements and projects include dozens of widening, lane editions and turning lane/signals additions across the county. The total cost of all projects on the list would cost $650 million.

The County Council heard the recommendations on Tuesday night and it will now decide what happens next.

"We are just an advisory commission. Council can take this advice, they can re-order it, they can put their own fingerprint on it," said Lisa Stevens of the Chairman Advisory Commission.

Paying for the roads could include putting a penny sales tax referendum on the November ballot. Click here to see a full list of the road improvement projects, here for bridges, here for pedestrian projects and here for resurfacing.
