PENDLETON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in connection with armed robberies at two Pendleton businesses.

The most recent robbery happened at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday at the Dollar General store located at 1005 South Mechanic St.

According to deputies, the robber walked into the store and waved a knife at an employee, demanding money. They said the suspect got away on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash from two registers. No one was injured.

Deputies and canine units were on scene, but called off the search when the trail went cold.

Investigators with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office were looking into whether the robbery was connected to the armed robbery at the Bojangles' in Pendleton Sunday night.

Deputies said the description of the suspect in the two incidents matched and they were able to identify him as Willie May Wideman, 56.

Wideman was arrested Wednesday about 11 p.m. and is being held at the Anderson County Detention Center on an armed robbery charge, according to deputies.

Deputies said they do not believe he was involved in a third Pendleton robbery this week and ask anyone with information on the Plex-U robbery to call the Anderson County Sheriff's Office at 864-260-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
