CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

As part of ongoing efforts to identify an unknown man involved with the exploitation and sexual abuse of a child, the FBI has released photos of a man they hope someone will recognize.

The FBI said the man, known only as John Doe 28, is suspected of sexually exploiting a child and he was first recorded engaging in sexually explicit activities in November 2012.

After enhancing the images, there are several clues the FBI hopes someone will recognize.

They said they do not have a location for John Doe 28's whereabouts, so they're distributing the photos nationwide.

The FBI said the video depicts the man and the victim inside a residence with what appears to be a blue sofa chair and a picture hanging on a wall in the background. Additionally, the subject is wearing wire-framed glasses and a burgundy T-shirt with what appears to be a shark logo on his left side.

According to the FBI, they believe John Doe 28 is a white male, possibly in his 30s or 40s, with a receding hairline and wearing wire-framed glasses.

No charges have been filed against the unknown man but he is being sought as part of the FBI's Operation Rescue Me and Endangered Child Alert Program (ECAP).

Anyone with information is asked to submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov or call the FBI's toll-free tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
