Police: Asheville man stole from home weeks after setting it on fire

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

An Asheville man has been charged after investigators said he set fire to a storage building that spread to a home, and then robbing the home two times over the next month.

On March 10, Asheville Police and Fire departments responding to a fire on Arco Road in East Asheville where they helped four people out of their residence, according to Sgt. Dave Romick.

Romick said investigators determined the fire started in a storage building and expanded to the nearby house.

Two weeks later, the owner of the home reported that someone went into the now vacant home and stole items inside, according to Romick.

Just over a week after that, the home was entered again and more items taken, Romick said. 

He said investigators with the Asheville Police Department and the Asheville-Buncombe Arson Task Force identified the suspect as 30-year-old Sneyder Espinoza.

Espinoza was arrested and charged with first degree arson, possession of stolen property, three counts of felony breaking and entering, and three counts of larceny after breaking and entering.

NOTE: Police originally said the fire was set March 3, but according to the original report the fire was on March 10.
