Coroner identifies man killed while crossing Greenville Co. road

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A 60-year-old man has died after being hit by a SUV in Greenville County Wednesday night, according to troopers with the SC Highway Patrol.

Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans has identified James Wright of Greenville as the victim.

The crash happened around 10:05 p.m. Wednesday.

Troopers said a Ford SUV was headed north on Highway 253 about 8 miles west of Greenville when Wright attempted to cross the highway.

Troopers said the SUV wasn't able to stop and hit Wright.

Evans said Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.

Evans' exam report listed the manner of death as accidental.

Evans said the Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
