GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The company South Carolina hired to monitor residents' credit reports after the Social Security numbers of 4 million state taxpayers were hacked in 2012 is now the center of a hacking investigation as well, according to Reuters.

The Reuters report said a number of states are investigating Experian after a Vietnamese man confessed to a data breach of one of Experian's subsidiary companies which exposed personal information of 200 million Americans.

Experian has not commented on the breach or revealed if South Carolina users who signed up after the SC Department of Revenue's data breach were exposed.
