SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said after multiple alarms went off they were able to locate and apprehend a man who busted into the YMCA with a brick.

Police were first called to the Ribault Street center at 3:10 a.m. Sunday as multiple alarms went off and they said the security company could hear movement inside as well.

As officers arrived, they said they saw a man in the front of the building, who then walked to the back when he spotted officers. He continued to move and dodge officers and as one yelled at him to get on the ground, he took off running, police said.

Police said they sent a canine officer after him, who was able to apprehend the suspect and take him to the ground.

When they went back to watch the surveillance video, police said they saw the man break open a window with a brick and climb in. They said scattered glass and brick were found inside.

The suspect, identified as Timothy Long, 45, was checked out at the hospital then taken to the jail and charged with second-degree burglary, police said.
