WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Seneca woman was sentenced after pleading guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in Oconee County, the sheriff's office announced on Tuesday.

Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt said 43-year-old Cynthia Brooks was sentenced to five years suspended to three years and two years probation with credit for time already served.

Watt said Brooks failed to register quarterly in January 2014. He said the last time she registered with the sheriff's office was on Dec. 31, 2014.

Brooks was arrested on Feb. 24 during an operation conducted by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service to verify the addresses of registered sex offenders in the county, according to Watt.

Brooks had two previous convictions for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the sheriff's office.

On Dec. 3, 2012, she was convicted for the first offense and on Oct. 2, 2013 for the second offense of failing to register, according to warrants.
