LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Lexington County sheriff's investigators say robbery was the motive for a shooting that led to a manhunt near Chapin on April 8.

Detectives say Jeffery Lewis Hentz and Demichael Edward Mayers were armed with guns when they stole money from a man outside a home on Bayfield Lane near Chapin.

Officials said Hentz, 22, turned himself in on an arrest warrant on a charge of attempted murder Friday. Mayers, 20, surrendered around 5 p.m. Wednesday. He was charged with armed robbery and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Both are held without bond.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department says at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, 34-year-old Antonio Williams was shot in the face by Mayers during an argument outside his home in Chapin. Witnesses told investigators both Hentz and Mayers were armed with guns and used force to steal money from Williams.

Investigators say the men knew each other and the shooting does not appear to be random.

Williams was flown to the hospital and underwent surgery. He remains listed in stable condition.
