SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said they've arrested a man on multiple charges after officers say he broke into a woman's home, beat her and fired a shot.

According to arrest reports, the incident happened just after 5 a.m. Friday in an apartment on Kensington Drive.

Officers said Kenneth Byrd, 21, entered the victim's apartment with a stolen gun and confronted her in her bedroom, where another man was present.

The other man left the apartment and officers said the victim told Byrd he should leave as well, or she would call police.

According to reports, Byrd threatened to kill her if she did.

The victim attempted to call anyway, and Byrd pistol whipped her and hit her in the head with a drinking glass, according to reports.

Police said Byrd also fired a shot before leaving the apartment.

Byrd and the victim have a child in common.

Police said they located Byrd in another apartment in the complex where another woman resides with whom Byrd has a child in common.

Byrd is charged with aggravated criminal domestic violence, burglary first degree, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a stolen pistol.

Byrd is currently being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
