SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Spartanburg County said a man and woman were charged after deputies caught them burglarizing a house on Cannons Campground Road on Friday morning.

Deputies said they were called to the home after someone noticed a trespasser on the property.

Deputies said they arrived to find Terry Sanders sitting in a Chevy Impala.

According to reports, Sanders told deputies she had parked there while she was on the way to her mother's house because the home looked peaceful.

Deputies searched the property and discovered that a window to the home had been removed.

Deputies entered the home and found a man, later identified as John Babb, hiding in a closet behind clothes.

When deputies ordered Babb out of the closet, they said he pulled out a knife and held it to his throat and threatened to kill himself.

Deputies said they were able to take Babb into custody.

Next, deputies said they took Sanders into custody and searched the Impala, where they found stolen jewelry from inside the home stashed in the car, along with copper wire and tubing.

They also found a number of power tools in the car and a white substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, according to reports.

Both suspects were charged with burglary first degree, possession of burglary tools, petit larceny, and Sanders was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, according to reports.
